Sentences and Punctuation
This Sentences and Punctuation Teach-Its® unit includes a rigorous, fun, and engaging lesson to help you teach this skill to your students.
This unit includes:
☞ a Scripted Standards-Based Lesson Plan that includes Learning Targets, Materials, Standards, and a scripted lesson plan to help you effectively teach about what Sentences and Punctuation are and how Sentences and Punctuation are used. This can be spread out over a 2-3 day lesson plan.
☞ a Whole Group Active Engagement Activity to engage and excite your students to help them learn about articles. You will engage your students by reading a mentor text about Sentences and Punctuation. I suggest Exclamation Mark by Amy Krause Rosenthal & Tom Lichtenheld and discuss the story and ask guiding questions throughout.
☞ a Guided Practice Activity where the students will work with a few other students in a group and figure out what type of sentences they have and add the correct punctuation mark to each sentence using dry erase markers.
☞ an Independent Practice Activity where the students will complete one (or two) activities: I'm a Sentence Sleuth Tab-Its® booklet and/or the Punctuation People Interactive Notebook pages.
