Why have students keep a journal?
To get better at writing, you must write! These writing prompts are a great way to get students to write and draw about a topic. Students edit their work using the checklist at the bottom of the page.
How can I incorporate daily journal writing during the school day?
Students can write in their journals during morning work, literacy centers, early finishers, or at the end of the day. You can also use the prompts as homework or print a prompt and have students complete it independently.
What's included?
This resource includes 20 journal prompts (one version with blank lines and one version with sentence starters), a sight word list of Fry's first 100 words, a list of journal topics full-page of blank writing lines, and a thematic and non-thematic title page.
