Description

September Math Centers First Grade is full of fun centers to help students transition from kindergarten to first grade. This unit has fun themes like zoo, pond, ocean and bubbles that will allow you to use them at any time during the beginning months of first grade. Your students will LOVE the colorful graphics centers-they may forget they are working!
Each center includes:
Teacher Direction Page for quick referencing and a list of needed materials and copying instructions for each activity
"I Can Statements" to foster student independence.
Rotation Labels for teacher use as visual rotation cards, which allows students to see center choices.
Bin Labels for easy labeling and storage.
Storage Tips and Tools each unit comes with binder labels and instructions for quick and easy storage.
Recording Sheet to hold students accountable.
Answer Key comes with activities where a key is needed.

September Math Centers First Grade:

Big Bubbles By Tens: students will practice counting by tens and write the missing number (1.NBT.B.2.C).
Before and After a Tadpole: students will work with teen numbers and determine the number that comes before and after (1.NBT.B.3, 1.NBT.A.1).
Mother’s Day Flower Flip: students will use chip counters and determine the greatest number (1.NBT.A.1).
The Greatest Number Zoo: students will order 4 numbers from least to greatest (1.NBT.A.1).
Swimming with Base Ten: students will look deeper at numbers to see how they are made up of tens and ones (1.NBT.B.2.B)
Twenty Frame Pond Buddies: students will continue to build numbers using twenty frames (1.NBT.B.2.B)
Time for the Beach: students will match a digital clock to an analog clock and record the time on a recording sheet (hour/half hour) (1.MD.B.3).
Hungry, Hungry Alligator Set 1: students will compare numbers and use the appropriate symbol (1.NBT.B.3).
Hungry, Hungry Alligator Set 2: students will compare numbers and use the appropriate symbol (1.NBT.B.3).
Lily Pad Race: students will determine if addition sentences are true or false and color (1.OA.A.1).
“Zoo-tastic” Addition: students will add groups of objects and then use numbers to represent them (1.OA.A.1).
The Fly Trap: students will use objects (flies) to subtract and then write number sentences on a recording sheet (1.OA.A.1).
Collect, Graph and Write: students will count ocean animals and then they will graph their findings (1.MD.C.4).
Ocean Animal Tally: students will use the count and then tally ocean animals (1.MD.C.4).
Missing Number Mystery: students will fill in the missing number on a hundreds chart (1.NBT.A.1).
Hundreds Chart Race: students will race to fill in a hundreds chart (1.NBT.A.1).
