This student-focused lab station activity is focused on all things Series & Parallel Circuits. These stations will keep your physics students engaged and learning! These engaging stations will encourage students to read, write, make, and so much more. Each station is tied to key concepts, interesting phenomena, and practices skills so your students will thrive. Spark discussions and a love of science in your classroom! 

Additional key concepts covered/touched on are:

✔ Types of circuits, Ohm's Law, Kirchhoff's Laws

✔ Total resistance, Integrated circuits, Switches, Relays

✔ Short Circuit, Open Circuit, Breakers, Loads, and much more!

+ Links to many other concepts like data literacy and connecting science concepts to the real world.

What will the students be doing?

  • Students will be given either a printed or digital handout to record on.
  • In groups students will rotate from station to station 
  • Then, they will use the station and their own knowledge to answer the questions.
  • All research questions are designed to easily spark class discussions!

What materials are needed?

  • Either 1 printed copy per student OR the digital version assigned
  • An internet enabled device for research as needed.

When should I use this resource in my class?

Our own classrooms! Within physics, connecting concepts beyond the classroom is often a subject that generates a lot of interest but can be difficult to do. We've found that exploring the real world around us really helps to solidify student understanding; hence Lab Stations was born! All resources are based on authentic sources and vetted for accuracy.
