Description
KINDERGARTEN - PREPRIMARY SHAPE SORT
The aim is to cut out all the shapes and sort them into the correct box. You can chose to pre-cut the shapes of children or allow them to cut for some fine motor practice. For an assessment piece - reccommend not getting children to cut.
Helps children to recognise shapes and assists with their grouping and sorting skills.
I have included the five shapes that are to be learnt by the end of Kindergarten and included an assessment checklist for the task with outcomes from K-10 Guidelines.
EYLF Outcome 5:Children are effective communicators
Children begin to understand how symbols and pattern systems work
Begin to short, categorise, order and compare collections and events and attribute of objects and materials in their social and natural worlds.
Kindergarten Curriculum Guidelines: Engage in and extend numeracy in meaningful ways
Develop knowledge of measurement and geometry
Recognise names, sort and match basic two-dimensional shapes such as square, triangle and circle
Develop knowledge of statistics and probability
Sort, classify and match objects according o attributes, for example colours, sizes and shapes
This is a great assessment tool.
