Description
Who This Presentation Is Good For
- All 1st-grade readers (whole group or read-aloud): Slides use simple vocabulary, short sentences, and clear story parts (beginning/middle/end), making it easy to follow during a class read-aloud.
- Students who need differentiated instruction (small groups): The deck breaks the book into predictable categories (setting, characters, problem, themes). This supports students who benefit from chunked information, repetition, and clear headings.
- MLL/ELL students: The slides front-load key words (theme, character, setting, honesty, courage) and repeat them across multiple slides. Visual-friendly tasks (drawing, poster) reduce language load while still showing understanding through speaking frames and simple writing.
- Resource / Special Education settings: The structure supports explicit instruction and comprehension skill practice (main idea, sequence, cause/effect, character feelings). The final project offers multiple ways to respond (draw, dictate, write) and can be used as an accommodated assessment with sentence frames and reduced writing demands.
