Your students will read The Landlord's Trunk, an original 11-page short story written by Charlene Tess and then answer 10 questions about the following short story elements:

  • setting
  • character development
  • theme
  • character motivation
  • diction and dialogue
  • external conflict
  • internal conflict
  • protagonist
  • antagonist
  • climax

The story is about a young woman who gives up her own chance at happiness to take care of her father but learns much later that her father is a hypocrite who has never had her best interests at heart. The answers to the study questions are provided.
