Description

Sign Language CVC Word practice with 50 different CVC word cards for students to build using sign language. For these fun centers, students will take an activity card and figure out each sign language letter of the word to reveal the secret short a e i o or u word!

A sign language alphabet chart is included for students to reference.

Get this in the Secret Sign Language BUNDLE to grab all of my secret sign language centers!

There are 10 words for each short vowel sound - short a, short e, short i, short o, and short u - for 50 words total!

Check out this blog post to see how I use my sign language cards!

You can laminate the cards and have students use dry erase markers to write the letter for each sign then write them on their recording sheet when they're all done. You can also use bottle caps (water bottle caps work great!) with letters written on them to put in the boxes, alphabet magnets, or any letter manipulative!

Several levels of recording sheets are included so you can decide what works best for your class and differentiate for the different learners in your class.

I have included a really easy to use table of contents that lists all of the words by sound and you simply click on the word you need and it will take you to that page. This will make it SO easy for planning each week - just click on the words you need that week, print, and go!

Your students will love figuring out the secret CVCe word! These are perfect for a literacy station to practice working with words and are especially great for fast finishers who need a challenge or want to see something different than the typical working with words activity. Your students will be having fun and learning sign language at the same time! Encourage them to use their hands to sign each word when they're done figuring it out for even more practice - this will really solidify the spelling pattern for them. :)

I also have these for sight words!!!

Hands-On Literacy: Sign Language CVC Center! ?
Rated 5 out of 5

This Sign Language CVC Word Center is an incredibly innovative and inclusive addition to my literacy rotations! It offers a truly multi-sensory way for students to practice decoding CVC words by using American Sign Language (ASL) fingerspelling alongside the letter sounds. This not only reinforces phonics skills through a tactile and visual channel but also introduces students to an important form of communication. My students are eager to engage with this center; they absolutely love learning the signs, and their retention of CVC patterns has noticeably improved. It's a wonderful, unique resource that promotes both literacy and inclusion!
