Description

These silent e reading passages are dyslexia friendly, decodable, aligned with a structured literacy approach, and have activities specifically written to focus on cvce / magic e words including decodable sentence strips and mini books. This is an easy-to-use, no-fuss resource with different formats such as cloze activities and decodable sentence strips. Print and go! Each story also comes with black and white option for ease of printing.

⭐️My students love these magic e decodable stories in foldables book formats to take home. Kids will work on decoding, fluency, and comprehension using these passages.

There are 6 different formats for each decodable passage so your students can benefit from repeated-reading and increase their fluency.

They also list any irregular or high-frequency words for review.

This is a bundle which means :

  • You get all 4 silent-e decodable resources at a discounted price with over 200 pages included.
  1. a-e ✅
  2. i-e ✅
  3. o-e ✅
  4. u-e ✅

  • 4 Decodable Stories in each set
  • Each story is in 6 different formats:
  • Passages - highlighting the focus sound and word reading.
  • Full-page Page Passages with phonics skill highlighted
  • One-page passage with room for own illustration.
  • Foldable books with extra illustrations and practice activities on the back page - segmenting words, reading decodable words and answering a comprehension fill-in-the-blank.
  • Cloze passages - this worksheet has words missing and is a cut-and-paste style. This worksheet should be given once the student is well acquainted with the story.
  • Each passage is in a small version to collect on a book ring for extra review or take-home practice.
  • Decodable sentence strips - each story has 4 decodable sentences, 8 phrases, and one fluency worksheet that can be used for story order or for sentence-level reading practice.

  • The best thing about these decodable passages is that they are aligned to a structured literacy progression. This means you won't find any complex long vowel sounds in there. Any exception to this is listed in the word list and is usually a high-frequency word such as to or of.
  • NOTE: If you are following any kind of structured scope and sequence ( such as UFLI ) you will notice that the silent e rule is usually introduced after short short vowel rules (floss rule and digraph ck rule) and the digraphs sh, th, ch. This means that you will find words with ‘ck’ and the floss rule in these stories. I have not included tch or dge in these stories. The only vowel teams in there will be listed separately and are usually high frequency such as ‘day’ or ‘see’.

  • Each foldable decodable is provided in both color and black and white.
  • Each passage also has colour and black and white options.

These decodable reading passages are truly NO PREP!

Print - 2 folds and VOILA a mini-book. No double-sided printing is needed.

⭐Perfect for a busy teacher and easy to give to students for folding.

⭐These would also make a great literacy center activity to consolidate learning that has taken place within a classroom curriculum, or send them home for home learning.

⭐I use these with my dyslexic students in my 1-1 reading intervention lessons. They provide a great way to practice phonics skills that have been explicitly taught and give options for extra review and home learning.
