1. Simple Interest Doodle Notes
This is Simple Interest graphic organizer allows students to compile their knowledge and understanding in a doodle notes style! Give your students a welcome change of pace by leading them through the ideas and concepts behind Simple Interest and then gift them with time to doodle and make those connections! This graphic organizer would be great for an interactive notebook, too!
2. Simple Interest Introductory Booklet
Calculating simple interest is a great way to build up a student's bank of financial mathematics – testing their numeracy and literacy skills at the same time! This introductory booklet will task students with defining the variables in the simple interest formula, isolating the principal (P), rate (r) and term (t) in some practice scenarios and then applying their understanding to solve multiple word questions about investing and earning interest, or borrowing money and paying interest. The gradual release of responsibility method is used to ensure students are sufficiently scaffolded at the beginning to work through the booklet individually. I love using this booklet in class - the sound of busy students learning in concentrated silence as they get a healthy dose of simple interest practice!
3. Simple Interest IN | OUT Variables Worksheet
Are your students struggling to solve Simple Interest problems when different variables (like the term, principal or rate) are unknown? This IN | OUT worksheet challenges students to apply their understanding of the variables within simple interest to solve questions with unknown variables – lots of order of operation, algebra and basic arithmetic involved! The in/out design is simple and intuitive for students to follow, giving them practice with identifying the relationships between the variables r, t, SI, P and A, so they approach automaticity with unknowns in simple interest! 50 questions for your students to practice on!
