Description

One-page note-sheet that gives an introduction to simple probability. Students will learn that the probability of an event is always between 0 and 1 and is generally expressed as a fraction in simplest terms. Examples are given with a variety of situations.

A practice page with a maze activity is provided for students to do after the guided notes.

Answer Key Included.

The answer to the last problem (leading to the finish) is incorrect. It should be 1/3 instead of 1/6. Also, my kids were slightly confused about which direction to go. Maybe adding some arrows or something would help.

This is a nice resource to begin probability with the class. However, the second page had one error on it and it should be corrected. The error was on the maze page. The last answer should have been 1/3 instead of 1/6. You did have it correct on your answer key, so I saw it but not before I printed. No problem though. I fixed it for the next class.

Understand that the probability of a chance event is a number between 0 and 1 that expresses the likelihood of the event occurring. Larger numbers indicate greater likelihood. A probability near 0 indicates an unlikely event, a probability around 1/2 indicates an event that is neither unlikely nor likely, and a probability near 1 indicates a likely event.
Develop a uniform probability model by assigning equal probability to all outcomes, and use the model to determine probabilities of events. For example, if a student is selected at random from a class, find the probability that Jane will be selected and the probability that a girl will be selected.
