Description

Have you been looking for a simple and thorough introductory project for stop motion animation & movie-making this school year? If so, then this resource is for you! This STEAM-based project will help your upper elementary students and their team members (grades 3, 4, 5 & 6) create a simple stop motion animation, and help guide them step-by-step through the animation planning, creation & reflection processes. This student document will allow your students to navigate movie-making for the first time with guidance, as this student document includes checklists, graphic organizers, a story map, script & storyboard templates, and so much more!

Pssst... I also offer a more thorough Stop Motion Animation Project which includes a teacher guide and worksheets for students to fill out as they go along. It is intended for students in Grade 4 and up.

Have you ever thought about integrating STEAM projects into your classroom? Whether you teach language arts, science & technology, or the visual arts, STEAM allows you to bring together all the elements of STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) whilst integrating the arts into your curriculum. STEAM will help guide your students' critical thinking, create moments of inquiry-based learning, and equip them with problem-solving skills, in addition to creating dialogue amongst their classmates. As an art educator, I recognized a long time ago the importance of creativity and innovation when it comes to this generation of children and what it will require for them to solve problems and to better prepare them for their future career opportunities.

Students love learning how to experiment and use new creative technology! As an art teacher, I have a soft spot when it comes to STEAM projects. This particular project involves so much creativity. It creates opportunities for students to problem-solve & troubleshoot issues as a team. It also allows all students to acquire real-life skillsets when it comes to technology and the arts!

What's included in this purchase:

  • 12-page Google Slides™ student document - digital & fillable, B+W
  • 1 printable version of the student document - printable PDF, B+W
  • Extra evaluation rubrics (2 on 1 .pdf sheet)
  • Also includes my Stop Motion Animation Checklist (graphic organizer) freebie, which you can check out here.

The technology and applications you select for your students to create their project is entirely up to you. Suggested apps: Stop Motion Studio app (FREE + PRO versions), iMotion, or iMovie® (on a computer only) if your students have access to it. You can not adjust the speed in iMovie® on an iPad, unfortunately. Otherwise, there are many other FREE applications available for download in the app store.
