Description

Students love the instant feedback and suspense of this Halloween-themed “Sweets & Treats” Simplifying Expressions activity! 🎃

In this engaging Google Sheets and printable worksheet activity, students simplify 20 algebraic expressions involving combining like terms, the distributive property, and a mix of both.

This resource includes both digital and printable versions, giving you flexibility to meet your students’ needs. Use the same version for everyone, let students choose, or have them show their work on the printable sheet while completing the digital activity!

What’s Included:

  • Google Sheets Version – Sweets & Treats
  • Google Sheets Answer Key
  • Printable PDF – Worksheet Version + Answer Key

How It Works:
In the Google Sheets version, students enter their answers in the answer box.
✅ Correct answers turn the box green.
❌ Incorrect answers turn red.

As students answer correctly, candy is added to their bucket! Incorrect answers lower their chances for more candy, keeping them motivated and on their toes. Students love watching their candy bucket fill up as they work!

By providing both digital and printable options, you can easily adapt this Halloween math activity to best fit your students and classroom setup.

This was a fun activity and I liked the diminishing candy as you have more attempts. I did have a couple of students manage to mess up the sheet and I was not able to fix it.
