Description

Save time planning with this while helping your students develop number sense with this no-prep guided notes resource on simplifying fractions. 

Examples are provided using prime factorization to simplify fractions as well as using the greatest common factor of the numerator and denominator to simplify. The lesson is presented in a way that is meant to foster number sense and understanding of equivalent fractions.

Lesson Objectives:

1) write fractions in simplest form (lowest terms).

Notes are presented in an organized format with lesson objectives clearly stated. Space for summary and lesson wrap up is also provided.

There are two different formats of notes provided. Both formats have the same content.   

Version 1: Vocabulary and example problems are complete

Version 2: Blanks for students to fill in vocabulary and example problems as they work. 

Both sets of notes contain guided practice for students to work through on their own or with the help of an instructor.  An answer key is provided.
