Description

Included in this zip folder are 8 Power Point files. 2 are instruction files and 6 are assignment files. A brief description of each:

Instruction file #1 is a 44 slide presentation. The main topics are:
1. Divisibility rules of 4, 9 and 25
2. Recognizing square numbers
3. Multiplying roots of square numbers, rational answers
4. Multiplying roots of square numbers and one irreducible root, irrational answers
22 formative assessment problems are embedded in this file and 3 assignments go with it.

Instruction file #2 is 32 slide presentation. The emphasis is simplifying roots (simplifying radicals) by extracting 4, 9 and 25. Also emphasized is that larger roots are possible, but everyone may not see it. The students are asked to simplify the irrational numbers sqrt(80), sqrt(72), sqrt(150), sqrt(200) and sqrt(288) as formative assessment problems.

Assignment #1 is an organized page of numbers 1-210. The students are asked to circle the square numbers. This is on 1 page for easy printing and free under preview.

Assignment #1A is just like #1 but #'s 1-256.

Assignment #1B is just like #1 but #'s 1-252.

Assignment #2 is a 24 multiple choice, multiple answer assignment. The emphasis is recognizing square numbers, multiples of 4, multiples of 9 and multiples of 25. It is on 1 page for easy printing.

Assignment #3 is a 24 question multiple choice and short answer assignment. The emphasis is recognizing numbers not divisible by 4, 9 or 25 as well as multiplying roots of square numbers. It is on 1 page for easy printing.

Assignment #4 is a 24 question assignment. The emphasis is factoring numbers by 4, 9 or 25 and simplifying square roots of irrational numbers. It is on 1 page for easy printing.
