Description
Introduce your students to STEM and engineering design using this simple, one-day challenge!
Materials: Spaghetti (or similar), Masking Tape, Large Marshmallows, Meter Sticks, Timer/Clock
I have used this challenge with 4th-8th graders at the beginning of the school year and to introduce the Force & Motion unit. It is a lot of fun and makes a great formative assessment -- find out how well your students collaborate, communicate, and relate structural design concepts to a real world challenge.
I have also used this during professional development with adults, with great success.
