Songs and stories about sleigh rides are everywhere...but lots of our young learners have no idea about what a sleigh really is! This lesson provides a short summary of a sleigh, a brief fictional story about a sleigh ride, and a short non-fiction article about sleighs. Each reading passage has a quick quiz to go with it! After reading the selections, students complete a Venn diagram comparison activity. Included is a STEM activity where students can create, evaluate, and modify a sleigh. Two optional add-ons are included. The passages are leveled at third grade, but are accessible to a variety of grades and needs and can be presented as a front of class lesson, or in small groups, partnerships, or even as independent work. This is in Google Slides, but is formatted to be 11 x 8.5 landscape for optional printing.
