Slope Formula: Notes, Partner Activity, & Puzzle

This product includes the following three resources:

1) Cornell Notes on the Slope Formula - These notes are organized and easy to follow, giving students a good understanding of slope. An answer key is included.

2) Tic-Tac-Toe Partner Activity - Each partner decides if they will be X or O. They each pick a problem off the paper and find the slope between the two points. Then, they look for their answer on the board and place their X or O in the box. They cross out the problems they just did, and pick two new ones. They play until someone gets 4 in a row, column, or diagonal.

3) "The Slope Puzzle" - Students must find the slope between all the ordered pairs given. Then, they cut out the squares and rearrange them so that the edges match. Once they have all their pieces in place, they paste them onto a template. The puzzle, template, and answer key are all included.

I used this during a tutoring session to help an eighth-grade Algebra I Honors student learn about slope. The notes helped improve their foundational understanding of the slope formula; the activities provided an engaging way for us to collaborate and practice the concept together. Generally, I know All Things Algebra always offers excellent resources, and this one was no different!

This resource was good for my middle school students who do not have IEPs, yet they have math challenges that keep them from being successful in the general math classroom. They come to my class for math support. This resource breaks down the information in ways that meet the needs of most of my learners. I do have a high ESOL population, so I would be interested in some of these activities being offered in other languages.

I needed a resource to reteach that would not be the same material that was used in earlier in the year. This resource was great in fact the students seemed to understand better this time
