Description
Slope is such an important topic in Algebra! Students need lots of practice with calculating it, finding it on a graph and from tables or equations. I created this set of task cards to give my students some extra practice before their quiz. I printed off the cards on colored paper. I would also recommend using cardstock and/or laminating them for future use. I paired my students up and gave them a set of task cards and an answer sheet (included). Students had to work together to find the slope from each card in various ways. At the end students had to graph a few lines that were in slope intercept form and/or horizontal/vertical lines.
You can choose to give them one card at a time or give them all at once. I opted to give them all at once and when they finished, I checked their answer sheet. If they were correct, I gave them candy and if they were incorrect, I had them go back and check their work.
This activity was a great way for students to work together and find slope in a variety of ways. It also had them to talk to one another and discuss why one was correct and why one was incorrect.
This activity is great to use for a unit review for a quiz, test or even review for the SOL.
