Description
Brief Notes on Slope without Using a Graph Quick Guided Notes
I teach students how to first find slope from a graph. I believe that the visual way of learning slope provides students with a basic understanding of what slope is first before teaching students how to find slope without a graph.
I teach students with brief notes that allot more time in class for students to practice material. I broke down these notes into four parts so that students can quickly find what they need with these notes to solve for slope depending on their situation. The notes cover the following:
1) Slope of a line through a pair of points
2) Slope of a line from an equation in slope-intercept form
3) Slope of a line from an equation in standard form
4) Slope of a line from an equation given special cases (missing variable)
My students are behind in math skills and have time and time again flunked out of math classes or have been expelled. I aim to use short concise notes to get students back on track and build up their math skills.
I often use Kuta worksheets or similar assignments for students to practice skills taught in this lesson.
