This is a smart board lesson that walks students through strategies to solve multistep word problems. The beginning focuses on real world situations and why our math needs to be reasonable. The presentation has 3 multistep word problems. There is an “I Do”, “We Do”, and a “You Do” problem. I had my students solve the group problem together on a large 4 square mat. Here each student used an algorithm and strategies that worked BEST for them. They then rotated around the mat and gathered strategy ideas from their peers that they could be using.
