Description

Teach students to understand and follow lunch time rules and expectations with this no-prep printable social story and editable google slide pack. The real pictures and photos provide clear visuals for students with autism, ESL students as well as kindergarten students.

This social story pack is perfect for:

  • Back to school: establish clear, consistent routines at the beginning of the school year for ALL STUDENTS. Present the google slides to your classroom screen as a back to school shared reading activity! Teach ALL STUDENTS expected behaviors during lunch breaks.
  • Supporting individual students who need extra support: help students who struggle with lunch time behavior by re-visiting the social story as often as needed! Use the printable book OR read the digital version on a device with individual students.

Appropriate lunch behaviours addressed in this book include: eating quietly at your desk/table, staying seated during lunch time, eating only your own food, not sharing food with others, raising your hand when you need something, tidying up your lunch space after eating and listening to teacher instructions for after lunch.

What's Included:

  • 13 page printable PDF social story with 2 options: graphics or real photos
  • Digital EDITABLE Google Slides version to read on a device or share on a classroom screen

Why You'll Love It:

  • No prep needed! PDF books are ready to print and slides are ready to present. No extra work required! Pages & slides are organized in an order that is ready to go. Use all the pages or pick and choose which pages you need!
  • The printable books make great additions to your classroom library. Students can reread the books they need over and over again! The printable books also make great take-home resources for students to read with parents at home. A great home-to-school connection!
  • Slides are fully EDITABLE: change the text using the editable text boxes or change the photos by changing background images on slides. Match the language and vocabulary you use in your own classroom. Change the photos to pictures of you, your students or your own school/classroom!
  • Paper-saving option: don't want to spend money on printing? Use the google slides to read on a device with individual students or present to your classroom screen for a whole-class shared reading mini-lesson!
  • Real photos: Clip art depictions of items can be abstract for students. Real pictures provide clear visuals for concrete understanding and support a universal design for learning!

This story is also available as an interactive adapted book. The adapted book provides a simplified text with hands-on matching and sorting activities and is designed to support students with focus or language & communication needs.

Thank you for this! We have LOTS of kiddos in Kindergarten and Grade 1 who need help with this. One is eating other's food, one is wandering, one just needs help learning the routine. This book will work for all of them! One of our semi-verbal students with ASD is now saying some of the phrases in the work (she speaks in gestalts/echoalia) so it is sinking in a bit now! Such an awesome book!
