Description
This Common Core operations and algebraic thinking lesson covers how to solve subtraction word problems. The lesson includes research-based strategies and strategic questions that prepare students for Common Core assessments. In this lesson, students read the problem, write an equation for it and use a drawing strategy, and then solve for the missing number, which could be the difference or the subtrahend or minuend. In addition to the lesson, there are four pages of independent practice with questions modeled after the Common Core assessment items.
This lesson is a shockwave file (.swf) that is compatible with all web browsers and operating systems on any PC, Mac, or Chromebook. Answers will pop onto the page with the click of a mouse or presentation remote.
