Description

"Math Teacher's Got Problems" presents a fun and spooky way for your students to show they can write and solve 1-step equations with integers. This mini-project requires students to choose a riddle, then use the letters from the riddles answer as variables in a 1-step equation. The final drafts are fun to trade and solve. Your students will be excited to create equations and will love the spooky riddle twist. This mini-project is Halloween/fall themed, all student instructions are included as well as grading rubric. That makes for a fun, print ready, mini-project. Spooky riddles also included, but any type of riddle could be used.

Used for an extra credit opportunity. Students who did it loved writing a code in mathematical terms. Plus, who doesn't love a good joke?

I used this resource with my Math Support students who struggle with basic math concepts. We did a lot of work with 1-Step equations, so this was a perfect end-of-the-unit project. I turned the project into an actual worksheet which I printed and assigned to all of my Math classes. I had the math support students take their work for this project and create Google Doc/Slide with their chosen riddle and problems on it. it was a hit with the other math students. I'm looking to adapt this for 2-step equations and use it with a Christmas theme.

Such a great idea! I divided up the riddle options so students chose different ones. We will be working these in class next week. They are really excited to create things for each other. Thanks for putting on TpT!
