Description

Students are asked to demonstrate their knowledge of solving multi-step equations with variables on both sides. This project asks them to create a presentation, whether it be a poster, website, video, prezi, slides, document, etc. the choice options are limitless. The presentation asks them to show step by step, with explanations, on how to solve 2 of the examples provided.

I typically do this project as a review before the test or as a state test review. I also allow the students more than 1 class period to complete this project.

A grading rubric is included!

My students have been struggling with solving equations all year. I thought this project was a perfect way for students to make sense of their own thinking. They are completing this project prior to their quiz this week.

I had my 8th graders complete this project after our first unit of the year. I think it really helped them understand the process of solving equations. Next year I think I will use this project before they take their assessment.
