"I used this foldable as a quick review of solving basic equations with algebra students. It helped me see which of my students are struggling with fractions and decimals (as well as solving basic equations.)"

Description

This editable foldable provides students with an organized set of practice problems for solving one- and two-step equations involving rational numbers. Under each tab students will see a set of 8 equations- 4 of which involve decimals and 4 of which are fractions. The foldable is organized by the following three tabs:

  • One- Step Equations (Addition & Subtraction)
  • One- Step Equations (Multiplication & Division)
  • Two- Step Equations

Under each tab there are 8 examples for students to practice solving different types of one- and two- step equations involving rational numbers (includes positive and negative decimals and fractions).

Perfect for interactive math notebooks! I use this type of assignment during whole group guided instruction, but it would also work great for intervention, small group, centers, or during a tutoring session.

This download includes a print + go PDF version, as well as the editable PowerPoint file.

I love this resource. I ended up not using it with my class during the equations unit because I found a different one of yours that included rational coefficients, but I might use it another time. No harm in saving it for another time! Thanks.

Use variables to represent quantities in a real-world or mathematical problem, and construct simple equations and inequalities to solve problems by reasoning about the quantities.
Solve word problems leading to equations of the form š˜±š˜¹ + š˜² = š˜³ and š˜±(š˜¹ + š˜²) = š˜³, where š˜±, š˜², and š˜³ are specific rational numbers. Solve equations of these forms fluently. Compare an algebraic solution to an arithmetic solution, identifying the sequence of the operations used in each approach. For example, the perimeter of a rectangle is 54 cm. Its length is 6 cm. What is its width?
