Description

In this packet students will solve story problems using the BME method by analyzing a math story problem as they would analyze a literary story. Asking themselves, what is happening in this story? By analyzing the story, they can build the equation.

At the bottom of the graphic organizer students will have the opportunity to prove their answer.

The story problems are numbered with a differentiated challenging corresponding story problem following (labeled Story 1, Story 1A, Story 2, Story 2A, etc.). Some of the challenging problems will involve regrouping or filtering through unnecessary information. There are 5 problems with graphic organizers included.

Included at the end of the document is a blank BME organizer for you to insert your own story problem.
