I use this activity to promote collaboration, teamwork and peer tutoring. Students solve one step of a multi-step equation and then pass the paper to the next person who must check their work and then solve the next step. Students must work together, communicate and check each other's work in order to be successful. You can add a competition between groups to increase the difficulty if desired.

There are 4 different equations so this works well with groups of 2 - 4 students.

Students can use this activity individually to scaffold showing each problem-solving step.
