Description
Solving multi-step equations is THE foundation of everything algebra. This set of notes ensures that your students get off to the right start, and verifying their work with "checks" is emphasized. This set of notes includes 10 examples of solving multi-step equations that have variables on the same side. Prior to using this set of notes, students should have good foundational knowledge about how to distribute, combine like terms, and solve 2-step equations (I've hyperlinked the notes I recommend using first). There is also a section at the end where students are asked to write and then solve an equation (this set of notes on translating algebraic expressions and equations is great for additional practice, minus the solving).
All examples have been thoughtfully chosen to generate discussions about misconceptions and common mistakes, and the notes themselves have been designed to fit perfectly in an interactive notebook.
Do your students need extra help with solving equations? Try this solving multi-step equations flowchart and these notes.
