This digital activity allows students to engage in error analysis on solving one step equations by adding and subtracting. Critiquing the reasoning of others is an excellent strategy to help build students' fluency. At the end of the activity is a card match that provides feedback to students.
Students not only explain the errors, but they also show their work on Desmos to solve the equation correctly. Desmos is free and easy to use.
This task can be used as a class work assignment, homework, review, opportunity to develop and solidify student understanding, math centers, progress monitor, re-engage, quiz, test or formative assessment. Also great for differentiating instruction using small group workshops.
