I use interactive notebooks for all topics I teach in my self contained class. Many students get copy of class notes, so using guided notes helps them be able to participate in the note taking without the frustration. Great resource.

In the word problems at the bottom, about Alexs and Michael's money, the way one would solve the given equation x+20=68 would mean x=48, since one would subtract 20 from each side to make x isolated. If Michael has $20 more than Alexs, then 68+20 would be 88, which is the given answer. So I suggest that x-20=68 is the correct answer for the equation line.

"x-20=68" does work in this scenario, but it doesn't match the verbal description as well (Michael has $20 more than him), which is why I wrote the equation the way I have it in the notes. I wanted students to connect "more than" with addition, rather than subtraction like you are suggesting. That's the beauty of math! There are several ways to get the same correct answer! Thank you for sharing.
