This is a set of guided notes on solving one step equations with rational coefficients. The notes guide the students through the steps for solving one step equations with fractions. I print a copy of the notes out for my students, and put the pdf version on the board and we fill them out together.

I explain each step to the students as I show them how to do the first example. Then as a class we go through the remaining examples in the guided notes. Once we've finished, the students practice solving one step equations with fractions independently. If your students are not ready to practice solving equations independently, then I have provided you some extra space to complete more examples as a class.

I teach my students to use the fraction key on their calculator, so I have provided two different versions of the guided notes: 1) Shows how to use the fraction key, and 2) Multiplying by the reciprocal.
