About this resource:
This resource was utilized as a "thin-slicing" (see the book Building Thinking Classrooms by Peter Liljedahl) activity for students to progress from solving one-step equations, to two-step, to multi-step with distribution and combining like terms. Solving equations with variables in both sides was the next day's lesson. There are twelve cards in the progression.
This application multiple uses in your classroom:
- Thin-slicing lesson within groups
- Practice for an upcoming quiz or test
- A quiz or test
- Comprehension Check

Directions for use:
- organize your students into groups
- print out a copy of the cards for each group to have their own
- print on cardstock and laminate for future use
- provide each group with the first card and have them write the card on the top of their whiteboard
- students can progress to the next card once they demonstrate a check for their solution
