Description
Concepts Covered:
Determine the nature of the roots by using the discriminate as:
1 real solution
2 real solutions
2 complex number solutions
There are 18 equations for students to solve using the discriminate. A student worksheet has also been provided for the students to work out the problems.
The card sort can be complete so each student has their own to work on and cut and glue the equations into the correct place on the sorting mat. It can also be used as in class practice just sorting without adhering the pieces to be used again by other students.

Solve quadratic equations by inspection (e.g., for 𝘹² = 49), taking square roots, completing the square, the quadratic formula and factoring, as appropriate to the initial form of the equation. Recognize when the quadratic formula gives complex solutions and write them as 𝘢 ± 𝘣𝘪 for real numbers 𝘢 and 𝘣.
