Description

This set of algebra 2 binder notes provides students with an organized set practice problems for solving rational equations. There are 6 guided examples on the front, broken down into types of equations that can be solved using cross multiplication verses finding a common denominator. The back side offers 8 additional practice problems, two of which include extraneous solutions. Note: I used a star to indicate the last two problems include extraneous solutions, since this did not arise in the "guided examples" section.

Rewrite simple rational expressions in different forms; write š˜¢(š˜¹)/š˜£(š˜¹) in the form š˜²(š˜¹) + š˜³(š˜¹)/š˜£(š˜¹), where š˜¢(š˜¹), š˜£(š˜¹), š˜²(š˜¹), and š˜³(š˜¹) are polynomials with the degree of š˜³(š˜¹) less than the degree of š˜£(š˜¹), using inspection, long division, or, for the more complicated examples, a computer algebra system.
Understand that rational expressions form a system analogous to the rational numbers, closed under addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division by a nonzero rational expression; add, subtract, multiply, and divide rational expressions.
Create equations and inequalities in one variable and use them to solve problems.
