Solving Right Triangles Bundle

Description

This bundle includes all of my activities solving right triangles. Skills included are:

  • pythagorean theorem
  • right triangle trig
  • angles of elevation and depression
  • applications
  • special right triangles
  • simplest radical form

Pythagorean Theorem Word Problem Stations Activity

This activity has 15 stations with word problems that need to be solved using the Pythagorean Theorem.

Some answers will be rounded and some will be in simplest radical form. The answer key is designed to be printed on the back of the stations so students can self check their answers before moving on.

This is a great activity for the vertical whiteboards and collaborative group work.

Right Triangle Trig Scavenger Hunt

This scavenger hunt gets posted around the room. Students can pick any question to start with. They solve the question at the bottom of the page. Then they look around the room for their answer on the top of another page. Once they find it, that is the next question they do.

Students keep track of their progress by recording the letters on each page. The document is in answer order and there is also a key at the end of the letter order.

A student work page is included. I also just have students use individual white boards to track their journey around the room.

Questions include solving right triangles for angles or sides using sine, cosine, or tangent. All sides are rounded to the nearest tenth and angles are rounded to the nearest degree.

Angles of Elevation & Depression Applications Stations

This activity includes 20 colorful stations that involve angles of elevation and depression. Students need to interpret the word problem, draw a diagram, and then use the appropriate trig function to solve for the missing side or angle.

This is a great activity for collaborative group work at vertical white boards. The answers are designed to print on the back of the slide.

Trig Applications Scavenger Hunt

This scavenger hunt gets posted around the room. Students can pick any question to start with. They solve the question at the bottom of the page. Then they look around the room for their answer on the top of another page. Once they find it, that is the next question they do.

Questions are all application word problems that require right triangle trig to solve. Problems include angles of elevation and depression.

Solving Right Triangles Castle Attack Review Game

This Solving Right Triangles Review Game includes 21 review problems using the Pythagorean Theorem, Special Right Triangles, and Trig. This is a great set of problems for student collaboration at vertical whiteboards.

I use these questions as a Castle Attack game. See the preview to read the directions for Castle Attack. My students love this game and are constantly requesting to play it. It includes answering math questions, rolling dice, and attacking other teams. This game requires vertical whiteboards.

This game includes questions on:

  • Simplifying Radicals
  • Multiplying Radicals
  • Solving for sides using the Pythagorean Theorem
  • Using the Converse of the Pythagorean Theorem to classify triangles
  • 45-45-90 triangles
  • 30-60-90 triangles
  • Using sine/cosine/tangent to find missing sides
  • Using sine/cosine/tangent to find missing angles
  • Finding a missing side in a diagram with 2 special right triangles
