Description

Using Long and Short Vowel Word Sorts allows your students to organize and classify words so that they begin to see relationships among words.   Your first and second grade students will have multiple opportunities to read and write CVC and CVCe words with 7 different long and short vowel sort worksheets.  Kids will love applying their knowledge as they complete a long vowel word search, too!  

The extension activity which is provided is a great assessment tool that allows students to demonstrate their understanding of how CVC and CVCe words work by writing sentences.

Includes:

7 different CVC/CVCe word sorts (includes blends and digraphs)

7 Word Searches with CVCe words

Vowels: a, i, o, and u and 3 review sorts

2 varieties of response sheets

Optional Extension Activity: Write sentences on the back

Sorting mats (two options)

Answer keys for each sort and word searches

Direction sheet for Literacy Centers/Daily 5

students will have the opportunity to practice reading long vowel words using this pocket chart sorting activity
