Description

My ‘’Sorting and Matching’ pack is a matching activity for young students in the first year of school. This sorting activity meets the Australian Curriculum Statement for the Prep year level:

Sort and classify familiar objects and explain the basis for these classifications. Copy, continue and create patterns with objects and drawings (ACMNA005).

To Create

Laminate and cut the pieces along the black lines. Bag picture tiles in a large snap-lock bag. Ask students to sort the pictures into groups according to their similarities.

Ask students – “Can you find pictures that are the same in some way? How are they the same? How are some of them different from each other?“

Students may sort the pictures into groups such as:

Food, plants/ flowers, insects/ animals/ living things, things that can swim/ live in the water, sweet foods, healthy foods, animals with fins, animals with legs.
