Are you looking to use DAWs (Digital Audio Workstations) in your classroom? Have you started used DAWs but need more ideas for lessons?
This resource is project-based learning and teaches the basics of using the Patterns BeatMaker in Soundtrap. Students will learn how to create their own drum beats and hear examples of drum beats in multiple genres! The last slide includes directions for a project in which students will create their own drum beat and add other loops to it to create their own song in any style they wish! This project will take two to five days to complete, depending on student familiarity with Soundtrap, and it is age-appropriate for 5th grade and up!
This lesson is great for in-person learning or distance learning and uses Soundtrap, which is accessible with many different 1:1 devices, including Chromebooks and iPads. You will need Soundtrap accounts to do this lesson. Soundtrap does offer a paid EDU option, but there is also a free option. (Instructions on how to create the free Soundtrap accounts are also included in this product!)
