Spanish Three Kings Day Lesson
Share

Description

This lesson is centered on Ikea Spain's popular 2014 commercial "La Otra Carta," in which children talk about what they want from Los Reyes Magos and from their parents. It includes a five page worksheet with pre-activities (students go shopping for themselves, and then others, at El Corte Ingles, Spain's largest department store, and compare their own traditions with that of Los Reyes Magos), a clozeline activity for the commercial, and post-viewing activities and questions. The five page worksheet is ideal for AP or Level 4 students, while lower level Spanish students can still enjoy the shopping activity and the commercial. The video is embedded in the PDF but you may want to search for it on YouTube (Ikea La Otra Carta) before downloading this product as well to ensure access. If you don't have access to computers for the shopping activities (both El Corte Ingles and Ikea España), you can still have students fill out the gift charts using their own vocabulary and dictionaries.

This was a very good activity that kept my students busy during the period. It's a great way to start class that first day back in January when everyone is still sleepy from the long winter vacation. Students enjoyed "shopping" at el Corte Inglés and I appreciated the amount of Spanish that they had to use on the worksheet. Thank you!
