This resource is an EASY and ENGAGING way to increase your students’ Spanish/English vocabulary:
- Vocabulary Posters (Qty 12 when printed front/back) ~ size 8.5 x 11 inches
- Vocabulary Flashcards (Qty 12 when printed front/back) ~ These can be used for ELL learners to build English vocabulary or for non-ELL students to build Spanish vocabulary!
- Game Cards (Qty 12) ~ Great for use as a fun activity or as an assessment.
Students will learn:
- 12 food-themed Spanish vocabulary words: la hamburguesa, el pescado, el tocino, el maíz, la cebolla, los huevos, los camarones, el sándwich, la sopa, los vegetales, los frijoles, las tortillas
- 2 Spanish sentence structures: Yo como… (I eat…)
¿Quién come…? (Who eats…)

Sample Plan:
Day 1: Introduce vocabulary with colorful posters that include a layman’s pronunciation guide on the back of each poster– even someone who knows NO Spanish can use the pronunciation guide to model the words for students! Laminate these and post them around the classroom to build a Spanish word wall.
Days 2-3: Students practice with flashcards individually and/or in small groups– perfect for station work.
Day 4: Use “Yo Como/ Quién Come” activity as a game or assessment. (This works like the popular “I Have/Who Has” game.)
Printing Suggestions:
- Pages 4-27 are posters. They should be printed double sided if you want the speaker pronunciation guide to appear on the back for use when introducing the words to students.
- Pages 29-34 are flashcards. They should be printed double sided. Print two pages as a test to see how the paper feeds through your printer to be sure that the pages will print correctly.
- Pages 39-41 are game cards. They should be printed single sided.
