Spatial Concepts & 1 part directions- Springtime Forest!
Building receptive and expressive language skills- During this Boom Cards Springtime Forest activity, learn and practice spatial concepts by moving the animals as specified by the 1 part directions. Audio is provided for non-readers. This will target not only basic spatial concepts, but also listening for details, listening comprehension, Where questions, and opposites. The following concepts are addressed: top/bottom, in front/behind, over/under, left/right, forward/backward, near-close/far apart, together/separate, above/below, between, next to, beside, center, middle, through, corner, side. Included: 2 instructional pages, 24 student interactive pages, 1 reinforcement bonus page.
To address expressive language and further understanding of the spatial concepts and opposites, have your student state the spatial concept word within a sentence using the copulas /is, are/.
Bonus: The last card in the deck is a reinforcement activity where your student gets to create their own picture. This can also be used for developing storytelling and narrative skills while targeting specific grammatical structures and the spatial concepts listed above!
This no print/no prep resource is developed for speech-language pathologists during therapy sessions as well as other educators to build receptive and expressive language skills. It can also be pushed out via the Boom Learning Website to students and their parents for carry-over practice of the concepts taught within this activity.
