Description

Finding curriculum for the Life Skills Special Education classroom is one of my biggest challenges! I've created these various units and lessons to teach tools that I otherwise couldn't find resources for. Whether you're outfitting a brand new classroom, or just trying to add fresh ideas to your existing program, this expanding bundle will help make daily routines easier! This is an EXPANDING bundle, which means that any new special education resources I add to it in the future will be FREE to you! Plus save 30% off each resources by buying now as a bundle!

Including in this bundle are 8 different units, plus one "Freebie" to teach vocational assembly skills!

Resource #1, Life Skills Math: My top seller, this year-long math unit has everything you need to teach functional living math skills. It also includes pre-written IEP goals to take the stress out of data collection and IEP writing (PHEW!!!!)

Resource #2, Entering the World of Work: This lesson is tailored for students who are beginning work. It focuses on what should and shouldn't be brought to work, and how you can use these tools at your job.

Resource #3, Following Direction Reading Comprehension Activities: This unit has been SO IMPORTANT to help assess the reading comprehension of some of my students who are non-verbal. Because of this lesson, I was able to share with parents that their student was indeed retaining words and their meanings.

Resource #4, Life Skills Grocery Unit: This lesson is made to re-create looking through a newspaper to shop on a budget. It includes recipes that you can find the total cost of, plus prepare the snack if you have the resources in your classroom. It is the perfect way to teach shopping and meal-prep skills if your school too far from a grocery store.

Resource #5, Morning Work: We start every morning with a quick review of the weather, and how to prepare for it. I made this lesson after one young lady wore sandals on a snowy day! It also includes basic name recognition, and of course, pre-written IEP goals so you can spend more time on teaching, and less time on the paperwork! (Another woo-hoo!)

Resource #6, Functional Vocabulary Unit: I've taken 48 of the most common/important words, and created a unit that includes drawing and writing skills. Important words like "Public, Private" and "Men, Women" are included, which opens the door for important conversations of what you do in each area.

Resource #7, FREEBIE Cupcake Birthday Assembly Activity: This is a bonus item that is only available through this resource, and my Cupcake Assembly Bundle. It allows your students to act as if they work for "Callie's Cakes", a fictitious bakery I have invented. They take order forms and create what each customer has ordered using delicious cupcake graphics! There are also different levels of math involved so students with higher math skills can then find out how much each order will cost.

Resource #8, Added 1/11/2020 Disneyland Functional Academic Life Skills 3 Month Unit: I just added this resource, and I am SOOOOOOO excited to offer it to you! It has been a labor of love to create 98 pages full of graphics from Disneyland, plus IEP goals to monitor the skills being taught. The mouth-watering treats and sweet soft plushies will hopefully entice even your most reluctant students to practice their skills. The lessons are themed by day, such as: Money Monday, Time Tuesday, Writing Wednesday, Reading Thursday, Fun Friday (You get to buy more stuff and maintain a budget!). Since many of our students love Disney, I created this unit so that we could make learning something they would know and love! ♥ (And I love Disney too!!!)

Resource #9, Added 8/18/2020 COVID-19 Face Mask Social Story. This lesson includes a 16 page colored social story instructing how to wear a face mask. It also includes an identical 16 page black and white version that you can print off and send home to students so they can color it like a coloring book. The illustrations are realistic (No confusing stick figures!), and show different kinds of face masks that students might have to wear. Even if your school is remote learning for now, students will likely have to wear masks in order to return in the future. Parents will appreciate you being able to provide this valuable resource to them!

♥♥♥ My hope is that these activities will fill gaps otherwise left unfilled in the challenging world of teaching special education. Our students deserve a rich education, and these activities will help give you more time to focus on what's most important: the amazing students we get to work with ♥
