Description
Speed Dial is a grouping technique meant to quickly partner up students.
Print out the document and cut up the 'cell phones.' Each student will need a phone, and I have them tape them inside their class binder/notebook.
To set the system up, students should go around the room and write down classmates on their speed dial list. The student and their partner MUST have each other as the same number listed.
Example: If Johnny puts Joe as his speed dial #1, then Jo must list Johnny as his #1. Then Johnny puts Sally as his #2, that means that Sally must list Johnny as her #2.
To implement- when you need students to partner up quick, tell them to get out their speed dial list and "Partner Up with your Speed Dial #___"
This technique allows for quick partnering, but also ensures that students are not always choosing the same partner over and over again.
