"So far I've used the Hungry Caterpillar and Little Blue Truck's Springtime and the kids love it! Reading these books with matching pics allows my autistic preschoolers to interact in the reading with me, show me what they know, and keeps them much more engaged. I highly recommend this resource!"

Description

These spring-themed adapted books will allow accessibility and increased engagement with your students with special needs. Many children with language disorders or attention issues have trouble sitting and listening to stories. By matching pictures to each page of the book, you can increase engagement and motivation!

⭐️ Adapted books are so valuable! For our littlest learners or students who have difficulty maintaining attention when the teacher is reading, adapted books can help. By giving busy little hands something to hold on to (the picture), and a predictable and visual way to interact (matching the picture to the book), you have a recipe for increased engagement! This can be done using any book, but at the early childhood level, using a board book can provide more durable pages that will hold up better.

⭐️ This spring-themed adapted board book resources include visual pieces to go with 6 different spring-themed board books. Instructions, with pictures, are included in order to walk you through exactly how to assemble the books. Links to the books are also included so you can easily order the books that go with this set of visuals.

⭐️ In addition, there is one visual cue card for each book. The cue cards include pictures of the vocabulary in the books and an "I see" sentence starter at the top. These cue cards can be put on a ring for easy organization and storage.

The pictures included are for the following books (books sold separately):

▶︎ “Little Cloud" by Eric Carle

▶︎ “Mouses First Spring" by Lauren Thompson

▶︎ “A Little Book About Spring" by Leo Lionni

▶︎ “Baby Loves Spring" by Karen Katz

▶︎ “Little Blue Truck's Springtime" by Alice Schertle

▶︎ “The Very Hungry Caterpillar" by Eric Carle

I think these are super cute and nice and portable, but they didn't quite give enough support to my kiddos who require visuals.

This resource was exactly what I needed for my classroom! My students were fully engaged and loved every minute of working on the different activities. It was very easy to prep, clearly organized, and worked beautifully for the different ability levels. It saved me time and helped reinforce key skills in a fun and interactive way.
