Description

Students will get lots of addition and subtraction practice with these spring and summer themed coloring activities.

Here's more.

If there is one thing I know about primary students, it’s that they LOVE to color! They also love seasonal and holiday activities. With this file, you get it all — 36 seasonal activities ready for crayons.

Students will solve addition and subtraction problems (within 20) then color by number. The spring/summer motifs include:

  • Spring baskets
  • Easter eggs
  • Spring kids
  • Spring animals
  • clouds
  • raindrops
  • flower pots
  • bubbles
  • pool kids
  • ice cream cones
  • patriotic stars

There are three activity sheets for each motif — one addition, one subtraction, and one mixed addition and subtraction.

Use these throughout the spring and summer for independent practice, morning work, homework, early finishers, or just plain fun! Little minds will be engaged with addition and subtraction, little hands will be engaged with crayons, and little hearts will be engaged with the warm weather themes.

What's included?

  • 12 addition practice sheets
  • 12 subtraction practice sheets
  • 12 mixed addition and subtraction sheets

That's 36 spring-themed activities in all. All activities are for addition and subtraction within 20.

My students loved using these resources! They were very engaged and did not want to stop working. They had no trouble starting to work on their own. I adapted some of the worksheets for the 'meeting grade level'. My students love to color these worksheets while learning!

Add and subtract within 20, demonstrating fluency for addition and subtraction within 10. Use strategies such as counting on; making ten (e.g., 8 + 6 = 8 + 2 + 4 = 10 + 4 = 14); decomposing a number leading to a ten (e.g., 13 - 4 = 13 - 3 - 1 = 10 - 1 = 9); using the relationship between addition and subtraction (e.g., knowing that 8 + 4 = 12, one knows 12 - 8 = 4); and creating equivalent but easier or known sums (e.g., adding 6 + 7 by creating the known equivalent 6 + 6 + 1 = 12 + 1 = 13).
Fluently add and subtract within 20 using mental strategies. By end of Grade 2, know from memory all sums of two one-digit numbers.
