Description

This spring sailboat craft with writing makes a great bulletin board display and can be used any time during the spring. Students follow the spring writing prompt to write a rough draft, proceed to a final copy, and create a sailboat scene craft. A suggested writing prompt is Saved by Spring in which students write about the downside of winter and the possibilities now that spring has arrived. Graphic organizers are included for the suggested prompt along with simple organizers that can be used for your own spring writing idea.

This spring writing resource includes:

  • All the outlines to make the craft except the sun rays (made from scraps of paper)
  • 2 Saved by spring topic rough draft organizers
  • 2 generic rough draft organizers to use with a topic of your choice
  • 5 choices for writing paper
  • Directions for the teacher

The yellow background for the craft is a standard 9-inch by 12-inch sheet of construction paper. The sailboat scene is made on 6 inch by 9-inch sheet of construction paper.
