Description

This ELA spring craft bundle allows your students to practice those essential (and tested) standards in a fun way! This bundle consists of three engaging activities that coincide with the month of March. Students begin each activity by completing a series of worksheets. Then, they use their worksheet answers as they assemble each craftivity. These print-and-go activities can be used to decorate a student-centered bulletin board or school hallway display for March!

Your students will review these skills as they complete these activities:

  • The Earth Day activity focuses on the skill of identifying the author's purpose for writing a passage. Students read five passages and determine whether the author's purpose of each can be classified as persuade, inform, entertain, explain, or describe.

  • The flower activity requires students to differentiate between figurative language elements. Students begin by completing two worksheets. Literary devices are embedded into 30 sentences, and students must identify the literary device(s) used in each sentence. These worksheets feature the following literary devices: similes, metaphors, onomatopoeias, alliteration, and personification.

  • The painted eggs activity focuses on prefixes and suffixes. Students begin by completing a worksheet that consists of 20 sentences. For each sentence, they must circle the affixed word and write its meaning on the line that follows the sentence.

Our principal likes when our bulletin boards reflect things that we are doing in class so this was a perfect purchase! We had just finished our poetry and figurative language unit so using this as a bulletin board was perfect!
