Description

Spring Escape Room Math & ELA Printable Activities are perfect for elementary kids. These editable activities are pre filled, but we highly encourage you to edit to what you are currently focusing on and differentiate for your students and their abilities. The best part about these escape rooms is that they are customizable so you can use them year after year in any grade!

What is an escape room?

Escape room adventures are collaborative games that are a perfect way to add fun and engagement to a typical school day, but they can also be used as a fun Friday activity and are great for review! Students use critical thinking and problem solving skills and work together to solve tasks and "escape" situations for every theme.

How long does one escape room take?

Most teachers tell us it takes anywhere from 30-60 minutes to complete one escape room, but this will really depend on how many groups you divide students into and the age of your students.

What's included in this escape room theme?

Each of our escape room themes include the same familiar 5 tasks, which allow your students to develop confidence and independence. Each of these tasks come pre-filled with problems, but you can EDIT the skills students practice to the skills you are currently focusing on in your classroom. Each theme includes the following components:

Cover

Task Number Cards

Intro Story (setting the stage for the theme)

Task Guides

Tasks: 5 EDITABLE tasks for each theme so you can adjust the numbers/letters as needed to differentiate for your own students

  1. Word Search (find the words)
  2. Strip Puzzle (sort the mixed up pieces and put them in order)
  3. Color by Code (solve the problems and color the space)
  4. Logic Puzzle (figure out what each picture represents to solve)
  5. Mystery Phrase (solve problems and use the key to reveal the phrase)

Puzzle Pieces (students earn 1 piece per task, assemble all 5 at the end)

Optional STEM Activity

Completion Certificate

What else do I need to know?

Everything you will need is included, so you don't need to buy locks or anything extra. We provide a list of supplemental things (such as matching read-alouds) you can do to extend the fun, but they're not required! An escape can be done by a single student, pairs of students, or groups of students--you get to decide! Students can work independently or together. You can sort the tasks in envelopes, hide them around the room or put them in separate piles for students to grab after they complete each task and earn a puzzle piece.

After you purchase, open the included PDF. Click the "Click here!" option and it will open the file on Google Slides where you'll be able to edit the tasks and print the pages. Please note, this is a PRINTABLE set of activities and does NOT include a digital escape room (you can see those here).

My students has so much fun with the escape room that I don't think they realized how many skills that we were reviewing! The resource was easy to edit and therefore it would be a great addition to any classroom.

Used this with my Grade One Class. They played in pairs. It was a lot of photocopying but well worth it. The students LOVED it. It kept them engaged and was a good review of some of the content from the year. All my students "escaped" between 45 minutes and an hour so it was good for everyone. Would use again.

I partnered students up to work together on these activities. They enjoyed solving the puzzles. A few of the activities had to be done together as a class because they were too difficult for independent work.
