Description

Looking for an engaging spring project based learning activity that integrates math, research, and persuasive writing? In this cross-curricular garden design project, students plan and design their own garden while applying measurement, area, perimeter, budgeting, research, and persuasive writing skills.

Students work collaboratively to measure a garden plot, research plants, calculate costs, and design a garden layout, then write a persuasive letter explaining why their garden should be created. This hands-on project encourages creativity, teamwork, and real-world problem solving.

Perfect for spring learning, STEM activities, project-based learning units, or end-of-year projects.

Students will:

• Measure a garden plot and calculate area and perimeter
• Research plants and garden features online
• Calculate costs and budgeting for their garden design
• Create a garden map with a labeled key
• Estimate labor and time required for construction
• Write a persuasive letter explaining their garden proposal
